A couple of double feature options slide into your DM's this week with LOST BOYS followed by DONNIE DARKO, then GIANT paired with aptly-titled RETURN TO GIANT. The first set harkens back to a golden era before cellphones when you had no idea what your friends were up to unless they were with you physically, and even then you might have to become a vampire to survive them. GENERATION X Cinema returns with the best movie experiences of the last analog era and those who were shaped by it. DONNIE DARKO falls into the latter category. RICHARD KELLY's immediate cult favorite catapulted JAKE GYLLENHAAL into super stardom and early chat room theories about wormholes and greek tragedies. JAMES DEAN's iconic performance in GIANT has a special place in TX Theatre's relaunch as it was the first sold out crowds to attend events put together by filmmaker KIRBY WARNOCK who directed the doc RETURN TO GIANT as well as many other regional films about TX and Oak Cliff specifically. This screening launches a new series "TX at the TEXAS" that will feature films made in and about the Lone Star state co-presented by the TX FILM COMMISSION. You can't get bigger than GIANT... Lastly there's a handful of tickets remaining on ESPRIT 空想 (GEORGE CLANTON) while WAMONO NIGHTS and AMERICAN ASTRONAUT is an extremely rare 35MM print! - we sure hope to see you soon! - JR
